ABINGTON, Pa. — Each spring, the United States House of Representatives sponsors a nation-wide Congressional Art Competition to highlight the remarkable talent of high school students. In honor of Pennsylvania’s Fourth District participants, Congresswoman Madeleine Dean hosted an art exhibit and reception at the Abington Art Center for students, teachers, and families.
This year’s winner is Rayne Feng, a junior from Upper Dublin High School, for her inked artwork, “Perfection.”
Second Place was awarded to Sydney Saracene, a senior at The Hill School, for “A Light in the Dark.” Third place was awarded to Nicole Robertson, a junior at Abington Senior High School, for “Cleansing.”
The Runners-Up are:
-
“When Worlds Collide” by Kayleigh Ludwug, a senior at The Hill School
-
“Under My Wing” by Anastasia Baranowska, a junior Abington Senior High School
“I’m in awe of our students — their skills, dedication, and creativity. Every year, the Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to lift their work, which so thoughtfully and beautifully interprets the world around them,” Rep. Dean said. “I was delighted to celebrate our young artists, surrounded by their loved ones and mentors. Congratulations to all our talented students, especially Rayne Feng on her moving piece, now proudly representing our Fourth Congressional District in the halls of Congress.”
"I hope my piece sheds light on the unhealthy pursuit of perfection and offer encouragement to anyone who feels its weight — whether that pressure comes from others or themselves," Rayne said.
Rayne’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The artwork from the runners-up will be displayed in Congresswoman Dean’s district offices in Glenside and Pottstown.
