WASHINGTON, D.C. As our country marks 100 lawless days of the Trump Administration, Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-04), member of the House Appropriations and Foreign Affairs Committees, released the following statement:

“Today marks a somber milestone for our country — 100 days of chaos, cruelty, and lawlessness under the Trump Administration.

From the moment he was sworn into office, Donald Trump’s agenda has jeopardized stability for American families, certainty for businesses, and national security.

Instead of creating a coherent economic policy to bring costs down, the President has launched us into a brutal trade war with no end in sight. Prices of everyday goods like cars, electronics, and lumber for homes are rising; many businesses are being forced to consider layoffs or closing their doors altogether.

Instead of making our government more efficient, the President has allowed Elon Musk to indiscriminately fire federal workers and recklessly target vital federal  programs — like Social Security, cancer research funding, and suicide hotline support for veterans.

Instead of demonstrating leadership on the world stage, the President has repeatedly attacked our allies — aligning himself with Putin and spewing Russian talking points. He stood side-by-side with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and declared — without any humanity — that the United States will take over the Gaza Strip, that the U.S. “will own it.” And Trump debased the office of the presidency by berating President Zelenskyy in the Oval Office — the very symbol of our democracy.

The American people see this President for who he is and what he has done. Over the last 100 days, my constituents have been reaching out with fear, panic, and anxiety.

Yet, while so many in our district, and around the nation, are deeply concerned about Trump’s clear disdain for the rule of law — they are extraordinarily motivated and determined to stay engaged.

It was President Jefferson who said, 'When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.' As we look beyond these 100 days, I will continue to resist — fighting to protect our country, our national security, and our democracy.”
