A bipartisan House task force investigating the attempted assassination of former President Trump all agreed political violence has no place in American politics and vowed to collectively get to the bottom of what happened. The group spoke to reporters after touring the site where a gunman on July 13, 2024, opened fire during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, killing one person and wounding former President Trump and others. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), whose district includes Butler, and Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) led the task force that was created in August 2024.
