WASHINGTON — Rep. Dean introduced a resolution to recognize the 50th anniversary of the ratification of Pennsylvania’s Environmental Rights Amendment. Cosponsors include Reps. Evans, Houlahan, Scanlon.
Representative Franklin L. Kury worked tirelessly to pass the amendment through the Pennsylvania General Assembly and advance it on the primary ballot to provide Pennsylvania’s environment with permanent protection in the Commonwealth’s constitution.
"I am honored by Rep. Dean’s resolution and appreciative of her continuing support for Art. l Sec. 27," Representative Kury said.
Article 1 Section 27 of Pennsylvania’s Constitution guarantees the people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment.
“Since I’ve entered public service, I’ve often quoted this beautiful amendment, Article 1 Section 27 of the Pennsylvania constitution, as a reminder to us all to preserve our natural resources for our children, grandchildren, and generations to come," Rep. Dean said. “Introducing this resolution on the house floor will further the obligation to advocate for environmental rights and work to protect it at all costs for the benefit of us all.”
