WASHINGTON — On Thursday night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.Res.730, finding Stephen K. Bannon in contempt of Congress for failure to comply with a Congressional subpoena by a vote of 229 to 202. Mr. Bannon refused to comply with a Congressional subpoena from the House’s bipartisan select committee tasked with investigating the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“This committee’s work is serious and has no time for the games of Mr. Bannon or anyone else that would disrespect our rule of law at such a critical time,” Rep. Dean said. “Our Constitution and our courts have made it clear that Congress has the power to investigate, and it is vital to the protection of our Democracy and our future generations."
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will send the report to the Department of Justice for prosecution. The bipartisan select committee’s investigation will continue.
Rep. Madeleine Dean is a mother, grandmother, attorney, professor, former four-term member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and U.S. Representative for the Fourth District of Pennsylvania.
