WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-04), member of the House Committee on Appropriations, released the following statement on House Republicans’ Continuing Resolution that will hurt American families:

“Funding our government is a fundamental duty of Congress.

Republicans control the White House, Senate, and House. Yet, for a second time this fiscal year, House Republicans have offered a continuing resolution.

Republicans chose to kick their responsibility into 2025, waiting for President Trump to take office before doing their job. Three months later, we face another looming shutdown.

This chaos around government funding is a smokescreen. Trump and Republicans are manufacturing crisis after crisis to distract from failures, including President Trump’s erratic tariffs that are threatening our economic recovery and growth.

House Republicans are moving forward with their $4.5 trillion tax cut for the wealthy — veterans, seniors, families, and children will pay the price.

This CR offers no protections to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. And it jeopardizes veterans’ healthcare guaranteed under the PACT Act.

I voted ‘no.’ And I urge every senator to see this bill for what it is — and oppose it.”

Rep. Madeleine Dean is a mother, grandmother, attorney, professor, former four-term member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and U.S. Representative for the Fourth District of Pennsylvania.
