GLENSIDE, PA - Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-04) hosted a roundtable discussion with healthcare advocates and community leaders to highlight Medicaid’s critical role in providing healthcare to nearly three million Pennsylvanians. The conversation focused on the importance of safeguarding Medicaid against proposed federal cuts and ensuring continued access to services such as routine and preventative healthcare, addiction and recovery services, children’s healthcare, and behavioral and mental health treatment.

During the discussion, participants shared firsthand accounts of how Medicaid directly helps families in their communities. Experts highlighted the program’s vital role in addressing healthcare disparities and supporting vulnerable populations who might otherwise struggle to afford necessary treatments.

“Medicaid provides essential care for millions of Pennsylvanians, including more than 1.2 million children,” Rep. Dean said. “I am grateful to local leaders, healthcare providers, and caregivers for the work they do every day — and for showing up today and fighting to protect Medicaid. I will continue to advocate against threats to Medicaid and support access to healthcare for Pennsylvania families.”

Rep. Dean reaffirmed her dedication to advocating for policies that protect and expand Medicaid, ensuring that Pennsylvanians can continue to rely on it for quality, affordable healthcare.

The roundtable included representatives from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Community Health and Dental, Central Montgomery Behavioral Health, Child Family Focus. Advocates included the Council of SE PA, HopeWorx, and NAMI. Rep. Dean was also joined by family caregivers and Medicaid recipients.

Rep. Madeleine Dean is a mother, grandmother, attorney, professor, former four-term member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and U.S. Representative for the Fourth District of Pennsylvania.
