WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Madeleine Dean (PA-04) was reappointed to the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary for the 118th Congress and her third term as representative of Pennsylvania’s Fourth Congressional District. She has served on the committee since coming to Congress in 2019, where she has worked on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security; Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law; and the Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil liberties.

“I’m grateful to our Steering and Policy Committee for enabling me to continue serving on the Judiciary Committee — although we face unique challenges in the minority, we are ready to do all that we can to create safer and more equitable communities,” Rep. Dean said. “Over the next two years, I will continue to fight for gun violence prevention, people struggling with substance use disorder, voting rights, criminal justice reform, and more. And I will do this with Berks and Montgomery Counties at the front of my mind.”

In the 117th Congress, the House Judiciary Committee helped pass significant legislation into law, including the bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first law to address gun violence in 30 years; the Emmett Till Antilynching Act to make lynching a federal crime; and the Respect for Marriage to codify federal protections for same-sex and interracial marriages.

Rep. Madeleine Dean is a mother, grandmother, attorney, professor, former four-term member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and U.S. Representative for the Fourth District of Pennsylvania.
