Today, Rep. Madeleine Dean voted for H.R. 1, the For the People Act. The bill offers sweeping electoral and campaign finance reform and tightens government ethics standards. It passed by a margin of 234-193.
Today, the U.S. House passed a bill to close the Charleston loophole. Currently, federal law permits gun sales to proceed if the purchaser’s background check hasn’t cleared in three days. H.R. 1112 – which passed by a vote of 228 – 198 – will allow law enforcement additional time to investigate would-be gun owners who don’t pass an initial background check.
Today, Rep. Madeleine Dean voted in favor of historic legislation to require universal background checks for firearm purchases. The bill, known as H.R. 8, also included Rep. Dean’s amendment to allow an exception for people at risk of suicide to temporarily transfer their firearms to another person during a crisis.

On Tuesday, February 19, she and her staff held an open house at her Norristown district office (101 East Main Street, Suite A, Norristown, PA), and on Thursday, February 21, held an open house at her Glenside office (115 East Glenside Avenue, Suite 1, Glenside, PA).
Last night, Rep. Madeleine Dean voted to support legislation to fund the government, maintain vital services for the public, and avoid another Trump shutdown. She also adamantly opposed President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency.
