ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Abington Township Police Department is getting a grant courtesy of U.S. Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, who helped secure the funding.
The grant comes from $11,936,080 in Community Project Funding, the first of two government funding packages, that Dean said will help address some of the most pressing needs in Montgomery County.
The Abington Township Police Department is receiving $93,000 for its technology improvement plan project.
“Our budget reflects our values—so it is especially meaningful when we can secure federal investments that directly improve our communities and the resources we can offer," Dean said. "I’m always inspired by the organizations in our district who are on the ground, meeting the needs of our neighbors with innovation and compassion. They are deeply deserving of this federal funding, and I look forward to our continued partnerships.”
Congresswoman Dean championed funding for 14 local projects.
Among two other local grants are:
- $75,000 for Crestmont Community Outreach and First Baptist Church of Crestmont Razing of Blighted Building
- $147,488 for North Hills Community Association – Limekiln Pike & Mount Carmel Avenue Lighting Renewal Project
President Biden signed the government funding package into law last Saturday.
